The IONAS project in 2004. The results: the "Port Community"; awareness raising; the Forum for Ionian and Adriatic cities and ports.
The Europe-Adriatic SEA-WAY project (IPA Adriatic). The general objective: improving mobility of passengers across the Adriatic area and its hinterland. The Port of Split Authority contributed by being actively involved in project activities at cross-border and local level, including Pilot Actions composed of two Feasibility Studies (Development of the Feasibility Study of construction and modernization of infrastructure in the Port of Split aimed at strengthening cross-border integration among Adriatic coastal areas and Development of the Feasibility Study of the New International Passenger Terminal Construction Project in the City Port Basin of the Port of Split) and the modernisation of port passenger facilities in order to improve passenger mobility and access to the port.
Contribution to the project
The Port of Split will take part in the project activities, and will especially provide its skills, experience and lessons learnt to capitalize results of past projects and participate in the working groups, share the outputs to be capitalized and work on the capitalization, contribute to the development of the feasibility study on the services for passengers with special needs and the training modules for the Port operators.
The Port of Split is the most important centre of passenger maritime transport in Croatia and 22nd largest port in the EU by passenger traffic volume, with a very significant experience in dealing with the problems and challenges covered by the project.
